Jess McSweeney has a romantic comedy job.

Alongside esteemed careers like “boutique cupcake bakery owner” and “nondescript brooding architect,” her professional title of “spunky, queer wedding calligrapher” places Jess firmly in “is she mere moments from a meet cute with Tom Hanks?” territory.

Jess’ love affair with lettering began in 2013, and she has since contributed calligraphy to hundreds of events and projects across the world with her signature modern-meets-romantic style. She has had the privilege of collaborating with industry veterans and wonderful couples who would make even the most jaded heart believe in love.

When she’s not kicking ass and writing names you'll find her watching horror movies, snuggling her cats, and curating her library of romance novels from her home in Baltimore, Maryland.

A NOTE FROM JESS

Weddings honor connection, family (chosen or otherwise), and everything good about humanity and our time on this planet. Love is abundant and every person is deserving of it, regardless of what limits society or politicians want to place on the expression of that love.

I work in awe and in service of the radical act to be joyful despite it all.
All loves and ways of being are not only welcomed, but enthusiastically celebrated.

Kind Words From Collaborators

“For years, Jess has thoughtfully elevated our wedding designs with the personalization and elegance of calligraphy. Exceptionally creative and detail-driven, Jess embraces each unique design with the utmost attention and enthusiasm. Her work shines from large-scale seating display boards to envelopes to objects (and we've asked her to write on everything from a cello back to a champagne bottle). I am always confident that our clients will receive a high-touch experience and the most extraordinary pieces every time we recommend her.”

— Elizabeth Gopal, owner/lead designer, East Made Co.

“As a lover of all things paper, I knew that choosing the right partner to help us plan our wedding paper suite + calligraphy was essential. I stumbled across Jessica's work on Instagram and instantly fell in love - this love was only multiplied when we met in real life. She was a joy to work with and her finished product is just beautiful. We've since worked with her on holiday cards & personal stationery - really any excuse I can come up with.”

— Kathryn Carski, bride

“Jess’ unique style and effortless execution is unmatched in the industry. If you’re looking for unique, modern, and showstopping — Jess is your girl. She is also a gem to work with — very responsive and professional and will always communicate to you exactly how things will go and what to expect. She is client-first and a truly wonderful person on top of being immensely talented.”
